Online EducationThere is a lot of buzz these days regarding Online Education. Lets try to find out what makes it good as well as what makes it bad for those who are considering studying an online course or two. People who think that Online Education is not as good as on campus education often bring up the subject of the lack of student-teacher interaction as one of the reasons why it is not as good as the real thing. They often say that Online Education students do not benefit from the usual face to face discussions that go on in an on campus class. This kind of thinking is however contradicted by the people who believe in the merits of Online Education. They argue that students have different levels of analysis therefore those students who are not gifted with thinking on their feet but are inclined to in-depth thinking often benefit from email discussions they have with their mentors. Those who are fast on their feet and can come up with questions and can discuss the lessons at the drop of a pin also benefit with the chat discussions these Online Education courses have. Another argument that can be brought up against Online Education is the lack of student interaction or socializing. The argument that an online course or school only helps to isolate people from others is countered by the argument that the people you actually interact with in your online classes help you diversify your circle of acquaintances. This is because of the fact that you get to communicate with course-mates that come from different countries and orientations. While there are a number of cons when it comes to Online Education, the pros often come around to outweigh such negative outlooks that this kind of learning may get from its detractors |
